How clear is your vision?

31 March 2016

Sometimes when you look around and see people who seem to have everything going for them, you might wonder, What’s so special about them? Usually, it is because they’ve just identified what they want to achieve, then they regularly and consistently take steps in pursuit of that outcome. Most of all, they maintain faith in their own ability to achieve that success – they have a mindset for success.

Whether you have your own business or would like greater success in your role, you need to know what success is for you. Not for the person next to you, or the person currently in the role you’d like to be promoted to, but for you.

First of all, ask yourself what is your professional goal? Let’s look ahead 3 years and imagine it’s 2019 – what would you like to be doing? What job would you like to be applying for at that time? Or, what does your business look like at that time? Who would you need to be to be in that position? What skills will you have accumulated between 2016 and 2019?

Similarly, what about your personal goals? What would you like to achieve personally by 2019? Would you like to start a family? Would you like to buy an investment property? Maybe start a new degree?

Now here’s the clincher…are your personal goals and professional goals aligned? Or does one set of goals compete with the other?

The greater clarity you have around your purpose, the higher the likelihood of you achieving it. Ensuring your personal and professional goals are aligned is essential to reaching that greater level of success.

Designing your future is an important task to work out exactly what you’d like to achieve in the next 3 years, personally and professionally. By doing this you will be well on your way to clarity and therefore achievement.
