Creating High Self-Esteem, Through the Beauty of Your Own Eyes - Week 3

09 July 2015

Nothing is more important than how you feel and think about yourself.

A high opinion about yourself, who you are, what you do and basically a love for yourself is also one of the things that people often miss.

So with this in mind let’s look (excuse the pun!!) at our third tip in The Building High Self-Esteem series:

Tip #3 Seeing the beauty through your own eyes.

One of the best ways to create a love for yourself, one where there is no judgement, is for you to develop an awesome relationship between you and your mirror. This may not be easy at first though the more your practice the easier it will become, so much so that you won’t leave home without practicing.

The mirror does not judge you. It’s actually you doing all the judgement, so the key for this week is to look without judgement.

Stand there looking at who you are, look deep into your soul, look past the wrinkles and the fact that you may have some bags under your eyes or a few kilos you would like to release (I say release as when they are gone we don’t want them to find us again, so we release them forever) basically look past everything on the surface.

See all the positive things, point out your uniqueness. Don’t stand there comparing yourself to anyone else. You chose to be you, so honour yourself and start to recognise your greatness.

Here are a couple of simple, easy to implement morning exercises

1.    Talking to yourself: Begin each day by looking in the mirror and say “Good Morning {add your name} I really, really love you.”

2.    Singing to yourself: One of my favourite morning rituals is to stand in front of a mirror, whilst listening and singing along to a love song. Be present and realise that you are singing the emotion of the song to yourself, so consciously realise this as you sing along. I have a few songs I do this with, though my favourite is "I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz ( Let’s take the time now, while you slowly read the first couple of paragraphs to the song, feeling each word, remembering that you are singing this love song to yourself …

When I look into your eyes

It's like watching the night sky
Or a beautiful sunrise
Well, there's so much they hold
And just like them old stars
I see that you've come so far
To be right where you are
How old is your soul?

Well, I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

And when you're needing your space
To do some navigating
I'll be here patiently waiting
To see what you find

Pretty powerful words aren’t they?

Maybe now is the time to click here, stand in front of a mirror and listen to this song whilst looking into your own beautiful eyes. And yes, you are allowed to cry.

Another ritual to add down the track

After you have been doing the two morning rituals and you’re judgment is subsiding you may like to take it up a notch and actually stand in front of a mirror naked. OK, I know you just said: “Naked, is she crazy?! No way could I do that.” That’s was exactly my first reaction, but just try it. You will be glad you did, and believe me, the kilos will be released a lot quicker and easier, especially when you start to “thank” them for the protection they have provided to you!!

Find your own love song; one that resonates with you, or use this one, it does not matter. What matters is that you do this each morning. Your day will be so much more, so much more and then, you will become so much more, so much more.

Remember “willingness is the key to healing” and mirror work does not work in theory only in practice. So the sooner you start practicing the sooner you’ll become your own best friend.

I look forward to sharing & building awareness and rituals over the coming weeks, as we continue on our journey to building your high self - esteem as it’s the first step to becoming your own best friend.

Until next time…….

With Gratitude and Joy
