Care Australia Walk in Her Shoes fundraiser
27 February 2015
What is Walk In Her Shoes
Walk In Her Shoes is the annual, nation-wide fundraising event that challenges Australians to walk in the shoes of women and girls in many of the world’s poorest countries.
Participants walk 25, 50 or 100 km and raise funds for their efforts, with the funds raised going towards vital CARE projects that help reduce the distance women and girls in poor communities have to walk every day for vital items. The time they save means they can spend more time in school, earning an income and helping lift themselves and their community out of poverty.
How to join
Register online as an individual or a team today at www.walkinhershoes.org.au. You will choose to walk 25, 50, 100km for a week and will have your own fundraising page to start seeking support as soon as you register.
How you make a difference
Tell your family, friends and colleagues the amazing challenge you are doing so they can support your efforts. The money you raise by taking part in Walk In Her Shoes will help fund CARE projects that provide food and water and give women and girls the opportunity to go to school and earn an income, helping them to escape the devastating cycle of poverty.
It is overwhelmingly the responsibility of women and girls to walk and collect the basics their families need to survive – water, food and firewood. By providing lasting water and food sources, CARE helps to reduce the time women and girls have to walk to collect these essentials.
