Bushfire Crises Response - Westpac

21 January 2020

Bushfires

Across the country people and communities have been hit hard by the tragic bushfire crisis. The personal cost for many of us is great and we extend our sympathy and support to all of you and our Ruby members and customers, who are affected.

We have been thinking about the exhaustion, stress and fear people must feel, and how amazing our volunteers and reservists fighting the fires on the frontline are. We also want to thank the countless others supporting those impacted and send a special thank-you to any Ruby members.

Westpac recently established its Bushfire Recovery Support package. The package supports our customers, community, including organisations assisting in firefighting and recovery efforts, and our employees.

At the time of publication, for personal customers, this includes:

Mortgage repayments paid for one year for customers who have lost their principal place of residence due to the bushfires (up to $1,200 per month).

Interest-free home loans for customers to cover the gap between insurance payouts and rebuilding costs, subject to our credit criteria ($250 million allocation).

Up to $2,000 in emergency cash grants for customers whose properties have been destroyed or damaged by bushfires.

You can read more on Westpac’s website.
