07 March 2011

Global Banking Alliance for Women Summit The Global Banking Alliance for Women is an organisation for financial institutions across the world who build innovative, comprehensive programs that provide women's business enterprises globally with vital access to capital, markets, education and training.

From 20th - 22nd October the Global Banking Alliance held their annual summit in Washington DC. It was also an opportunity to celebrate the GBA's 10th Anniversary!

The Global Banking Alliance for Women has paid tribute to The Westpac Group with a special award recognizing our commitment to supporting women in business and helping women reach their full economic potential.

Larke Riemer, Head of Women's Markets, accepted the award in Washington DC on 21 October, which gathered bank CEOs and representatives of financial institutions from all regions of the world. Our Head of Diversity, Rachel Slade, accompanied Larke, together with Marketing Manager Georgia MacFie.

The summit recognised Westpac's effort to empower women by offering educational sessions on business and finance, plus a targeted website - The Ruby Connection - to provide financial advice and assistance, promote networking events and foster peer-to-peer connection.

The Westpac Group was also credited as developing new products and services that can better meet women's needs and sharing the lessons of their pioneering work with other financial institutions and GBA members through organized study tours and networking sessions.
