Life is like a pen and you have the power to draw whatever you can imagine, but the ink is limited, so make sure you use it wisely and create the life you love. Here are some of the important questions you can ask yourself and see how you feel about them…
What are your Achievements?
To be recognised for what you stand for and what you have achieved, you must have the courage to talk about your achievements. Write down the top 3 achievements in your life or career. Women tend to diminish their own achievements, so consider asking for feedback from people you trust, as they might come up with things you haven't thought about! And now practice talking about your achievements until it feels natural.
What are your thoughts?
Affirmations are proven methods of self-improvement because of their ability to rewire our brains. The verbal manifestation of our dreams and ambitions can empower us to believe them and act on them. Think positive, and discover the power of affirmation.
Write down your affirmations on a piece of paper and place it somewhere you look at every day. Bonus points if you read them aloud every day!
For example; "I am a great entrepreneur. I am confident and determined. No obstacles and negative thoughts can stop me. Every day, in every way, I'm getting closer to my best self!"
What does your body and mind say?
Fake it till you become it. Numerous studies prove that the body and mind are listening to each other. Adopting a confident pose—or simply visualizing one—can deliver almost instant self-assurance. Watch the famous Ted Talk by Amy Cuddy, “Your body language shapes who you are”.
Now, stand like a Wonder Woman (hands on hips, legs wide) and stay like this for two minutes to try out the effects. “Let your body tell you you’re powerful and deserving, and you become more present, enthusiastic and authentically yourself,” Amy Cuddy says. Perhaps you might feel silly at first, but observe how your thoughts and emotions shift!
Next time you feel less confident make sure you take control of your physical body and posture. Walk tall, smile, and consciously focus on physically inhabiting what it means to be confident—until it becomes an unconscious habit.
List the things that you will introduce to your posture, voice, arms, etc. to make you feel more powerful.
